Letter dated May 20, 1917 Page 2

We have a new Drill Sgt and he sure is a dandy, but strict. All the kids like him fine. He told never to forget the folks at home & also told to act like a gentleman wherever we were.

I was called down once for talking in the ranks, & believe I still remember it. They sure can cuss a fellow, & tell a man in a minute what they think, but of course they have to keep the order.

I sent my clothes C. O. D. & didn't a receipt, but I think they come later, because they have lots to look after at Logan.

Boys here are all over their homesick spell, but of course our minds are on you folks at home.

I wish you would give me Pearl's SISTER address as I would like to write her. I wrote Herbs, COUSIN FROM CALIFORNIA but haven't heard from them yet. They might be down today.

When we get back that old town sure will be filled with soldiers & you folks will have one to lean on & I sure will be glad to have you too.

As for Money, I am all out as we haven't got any pay yet, and won't receive any till June 8th, so you see how I am fixed. If you send money, send it by registered mail, by check or bills. And you better send it right away, as we might be sent away in a few weeks. Folks, I hate to ask for money, but Uncle Sam is a little late with us.

Well, I must close & clean up for dinner. I am as ever. Bye bye, lots of love, and always with you.

Your own true son,

Kinley Cisney
10th Company
Fort Miley, Calif.
