Letter dated June 11, 1917
Ft. Miley Calif.
June 11, 1917

Dear Folks,

I received your letter today also received one from Inez SISTER and sure glad to get it too. I received the towels yesterday. There was nothing needed or suited me any better. It sure was some job you done on my towels. Great stuff, as we have all our clothes mark.

I was awfully sorry to hear about Cousin Joe's death. It sure was sudden.

How is everybody back there? I am fine & dandy, getting more acquainted every day.

I was to church last nite. The preaching was great just as natural as ever, but Dr. Caldwell is getting pretty old, showing his age awfully. The people sure treated us nice and wished us all the joy and luck a man could ask for.

Did I tell you about Herb COUSIN FROM CALIFORNIA being here. He was here only about 20 min but sure enjoyed the visit. He is coming down next Sun. Bring Mollie with him. He said for me to tell you folks to come out, he said he would take you all over Calif. You folks sure would enjoy yourselves.

I am glad you like the presents, they wasn't much but I couldn't let your birthday pass without some thing. I will send you some of the sea shells. I'll have to buy them because we don't have any along the beach. Will have some painted if I can.

I received the Blade HOME TOWN WEEKLY NEWSPAPER today. Read Chas. Hutchinson's letter. Tell Mike to send me the letter as I think that the letter sure was great.

Oh yes was today a Dancing School Sat nite & sure enjoyed it. You had ought to see me dance. Made quite a hit with the girls. But not like the dances at home.

Did I tell you about getting paid? $18. & had to pay $1.60 tailor bill & $1.50 laundry bill so you see the amount left was small. But next month it will be $30.

As for going to France, nobody knows for sure. They are going to send a company & we don't know which company will be picked, but our Co. is the best trained Co. here at Miley, have better morals, neater & quicker to fall in lines. So you see it makes a fellow want to keep the best record. We are all about the same age & of course we have better appearance than the other Co.

Well Folks Mother, will close now but will write soon.

Your own son with lots of love
Kinley
