Ft. Miley Cal July 26, 1917 Dear Folks,   Well as I have not anything to do this afternoon, will drop you a few lines. This leaves me feeling fine & dandy, hope it finds you folks the same.   Tell Pearl & C that I just took a bath but my feet were not as dirty as usual,   We had parade here today, or rather a review, which we pass in every Thurs forenoon. The Fort Scott Band comes over & we march to the music. Also take the rifle exercises by it too. I'll tell you when a fellow has that old rifle on his shoulder & the band starts to play the old red blood sure rises in a fellow. And he could fight anything.   Some of the fellows said that they tho't

  What does Pete Clarence intend to do at Hartington? It sure is the ruination of Nig. But I don't care as he hasn't wrote me but once. I guess it was because I am writing to his girl.   I wrote Aunt Sarah a long time ago but no ans.   Well I suppose harvest time is in full swing back there now. It seems to me it ought to be early spring here now. Oh I'll tell you this west is sure behind the times. I suppose Dad has his threshing crew already. Who is the men?   By the way, where is Allen Pruitt at? Did he intend to come out there this fall?   Well folks, there isn't much to write so will close, hoping a letter today too.
