Letter dated July 29, 1917 Page 2

I saw by the Hartington 10 MILES FROM COLERIDGE paper that Roy Sutton was married to Mike's old Tilly, but I am afraid he will have to come. A lots of these old soldiers are sure yellow out here. All they belong to the Army for was three meals & wages but now since Old Uncle is in trouble they are a little shaky. But you can trust your son. He sure is going to do his part wherever he is & when I get back I am going to clean up on some of them damn slackers back home.

Stella West wrote & told me that that Mauer kid had taken another French leave from home. He sure showed he was game.

Oh yes, by the way, we are supposed to have roasting ears for dinner. It ought to seem something like home.

Well folks not much to write about. I will close hoping to hear soon.

Your son with love
Kinley
