I received your letter today. Sure glad to hear from. I am feeling fine & dandy & hope you are all the same. I received the package day before yesterday. It sure was a surprise & as I was looking thru & found them two Eagles I sure felt rich as they sure did come in handy. And the tobacco sure does taste good too.

      We still are drilling hard in the forenoons but not much in the afternoon. Only signal & fire drill once in a while.

      My arm feels fine now but expect another shot in it some time soon. We should have had it last Friday but they out of the serum at the hospital & so you see we have to wait a while yet.

      Them pictures I had taken weren't any good but will have more taken after pay day, which is next Tues. We had a picture taken of the company last Sat. & will get them the last of the week and I will send it home as soon as I get it.

      Well I must quit for a while till after signal drill. - -

      Just back from drill. More fun than work. All we have to do is send each other messages & the Sgt. that has charge of us is a comical rube & we sure do have some times.

      Say that oat crop sure must be great. Would like awfully well to of been on a farm myself this year. Just wait until next year. If war is over this kid is going to hit her for the farm & old Nebr.

      At that, I met a kid from Galva, Ia. He said he knew a John Anderson there. He also said he lived in Ind, but of course a person always want believe what he hears out.

      Say but I sure would like to get into your cellar. I can almost taste them out here. I suppose sugar is so high it cost a lot to can this year.

      Have you been to the river yet? And Dad, remember. Don't let the same thing happen to U that did to us with the old International High Wheels Ha, Ha. U might get electrocuted.

      Has Ernie been called up for examination yet? I read by the Cedar County News that they had enough for the first call, but I didn't know wether Ernie was in that or not.

      You bet your life that little kit you sent was alright. Everything comes in handy.

      I also a cake from Miss Maun. Oh, Ho, It was a nice one too. So you see one little maid has not forgotten the good old times.
