Well as I have a few minutes I will try & write you a few lines.

      Oh folks I saw one of the grandest sites I ever saw tonite. It was the sun set on the ocean. Talk about the sunset turning the ocean blue to gold, it sure did tonight. Pretty. Why I can't explain how pretty it was. You could see the island just as plain as if it was only 3 or 4 miles out & it is 28 miles to it. And the bluffs near the beach were the color of lavender.

      I sure longed for you folks to be with me & see how wonderful old mother nature could paint this. No artist could ever imitate the wonderful scenery I saw tonite. I often wondered why they called this the Golden Gate. But after tonite I can plainly understand.

      Folks, I can't write like I could tell it to you, but when I come home I will be a regular lecturer.

      I wrote you yesterday & also sent you a picture. What do you think of the bunch?

      I am fine & dandy. Was on Kitchen Police today. It was a snap as lot of the fellows went to the Round Up & we didn't have many dishes to wash.

      We had raspberry pie for dinner & I only eat two pies. Ha, Ha. Oh, I am in good with the cooks as you can see.

      I went to the Round Up yesterday. Sure enjoyed it too. Saw some awfully good riding. But the Humane Society wouldn't let them rope & tie the steers. And when they started bulldogging they arrested three cowboys. The crowd sure got peeved & a soldier that rode in the contest said he would bulldog one & believe me they knew better than to touch him, as we were all together, Captains & all.

      The great sunset brought on something that makes me feel like home. It is really raining & sure pouring it down too. First real rain we have had since we have been here. Nothing but mist before so you see it seems good to hear the rain patter on the old tent.

      What did Ernie's oats make to the acre? The way Joe wrote his was going to be pretty good and U know old Joe never puts his to high. I sure hope the corn crop is as good as the oats. The money sure will jingle. Them corn pickers will haul in the cold cash this fall, won't they?

      Have you folks heard from Charley D. lately? I wrote him a long time ago but no answer as yet.

      Well the bunch has come back from town & are making so darned much noise I can't write. So will close. Write soon. Well Bye Bye.
