Sept 30 1917
Dear Folks,

I received your letter yesterday sure glad to get it. This leaves me feeling fine & dandy hope it finds you the same.

I was mighty glad to hear the boys passed the physical exam. But I don't think Joe BROTHER will have to go and if he & Ernie BROTHER do have too TO it won't be for very long as I think this war is about over. Try & get the boys to join in the Quartermaster Corp as truck drivers. They stand good show for HAVE A GOOD CHANCE FOR PROMOTION advancement. The wages only run from $60 to $80 a month in that branch of the service.

Folks we have been all slick up for two days now. Yesterday Sat. Inspection & today we stood muster. It made me hop right along to get ready this morning as I was Camp Orderly & had to police up the camp. But made it O. K.

There will be no leaving camp for me today until after retreat as I might have to run errands for the Officers or someone. But it is sure a snap. But I don't like to catch one on Sunday.

I wish you folks were here now. This climate sure is great. A fellow always swetting. SWEATING No cold weather as yet, but I expect the rainy season starts pretty soon.

We probable PROBABLY will move to some other place to barracks. I don't know where it will be. But it we be in Frisco SAN FRANCISCO some place.

Mother don't you ever intend to stop canning fruit? Good you sure must have a cellar full. You sure will have to have a cellar lock when I get back because I might fonder EAT UNTIL I MAKE MYSELF SICK myself.

We sure have pretty good eats at times & at other times it is pretty punk.

Oh yes we had another private inspection this morn you get me? Ha ha. All passed. This is the cleanest Co. in the fort in about ever respect. The other two companies have barracks but we get along as go in our tents.

I got me paper the other day & read the full particulars of Cora Heintz's tragedy. It was awfull wasn't it? I always tho't THOUGHT that fellow was nuts. I guess the people are all convinced now, but not until to late.

I sent that photo a week ago today & you had ought of got it long ago.

What size is that big mirror of yours? I think I can get an easel for you out here.

A fellow sure sees some funny sites out here & some awful ones too.

Our French lessons we were taking busted up. The old man (?) didn't know how to teach it so they all quit.

I heard there was an increase A BABY WAS BORN in they family across north of your place. Is it so? What for neighbors have you? Of course I know what the ones on the east are like, but if I was you folks I wouldn't notice them.

By the way the Blade HOMETOWN WEEKLY NEWSPAPER reads ever body seems to be moving out west. They are making a mistake, I think. Old Nebr is good enough for me.
