I just received your most welcome letter tonite and you can just bet I was glad to get it.

      How is every one back there, I am fine & dandy, having a good time.

      That sure was news to here of Mackey girls trouble. I suppose by now they know who was the one. I always tho't she would get in bad sooner or later. She was to green & silly.

      I read in the Coleridge Blade about Frank Heintz being in the hospital. How does Bennie make it now?

      The state going dry is going to help lots of the guys.

      I don't think we will be here long as the Company was transferred to the Anti Air Craft Corp. We will probable leave for parts unknown soon so if you don't hear from me soon don't worry as I will write as soon as possible.

      You never seen such a bunch of yellow fellows as there is in this Company. The are old heads & Non Commissioned Officers at that. It makes me sore. I think if Uncle Sam needs us over there I am game & will go happy. And I don't want you folks to worry either as I am going clean hearted & will come back the same way, that is if we do go across.

      Tell Ernie he isn't the only one who has a Liberty Bonds, as I have a small one of my own. And if I have to go over I am going to take out $10,000 insurance.

      So Ernie lost his School Marm. I knew Allie the kid would get her. Ha, Ha.

      Say that Alma Surface isn't the girl Bessie is. Alma is the darndest liar you ever heard.

      I was over to Presidio today & it sure is a grand place that is where the World Expeditions was. But nothing but soldiers training camp now.

      I sure enjoyed Chas Sutch's letter, but don't want to go there.
