Ft Miley Calif
Nov 4. 1917
Dear Folks,

Well as today is a day of rest I will write a few lines. How is every body? I am fine & dandy.

Still at Miley but will leave some time soon. But as I said before it was strictly prohibited to tell where or when we left.

I was to another society Ball at the St. Francis Hotel for soldiers & sailors only. I certainly did enjoy it too. I met some awfully nice young ladies & also their mothers who treated me as my little mother treats her friends. We danced from 8 oclock till 12 & it was fun from the beginning to the end.

Then we went down to a cafe called Coffee Dan's. Every body beats on the tables with their knifes to call the waiters & enjoying themselves to the full extent.

Oh yes, we were paid yesterday. My check was only $25 as $5 was taken out on the Liberty Bond. WAR BONDS So you 1 month I have saved $5.

If I make first class driver of the truck I'll draw close to $50 per mon. Les Oconnor & Chas Willey MY OTHER GRANDFATHER both made 1st class & I had ought make it too.

I wish you were here with me today. I am going for a stroll along the beach. But I will take some pictures & send you the films. I had a snap shot taken of myself in from of the tent. My leggin was fasten tighten enough at the bottom. But I don't always neglect them.

Well news is scarce, so will close for today. Will drop a line tomorrow.

With love to all
Your son
Kinley

P.S. I send the watch Friday & hope Ernie BROTHER will accept it.
