Letter dated November 9, 1917
Ft Winfield Scott
Nov. 9-1917
Dear Folks,

Your letter of the 4th was received today & I was sure glad to get it. How is every one back there? I am fine & dandy.

Just back from dinner & we are going to draw more clothes this afternoon. I will tell you what we draw later as we are suppose to go after them now.

We are going to have Battalion Inspection tomorrow.

Well I am back now from drawing clothes. I drew 3 wool pairs of under ware & 2 wool socks & I will get hob nail shoes SHOES WITH PROTRUDING NAIL HEADS ON THE SOLES later.

We were inspected this evening for heart & lungs. I was O.K. so far. We had feet & teeth inspection yesterday & will have to have 2 of my teeth fixed.

Now don't you folks think that I transferred because I didn't & we are still Coast Art. but just acting the Anti Air Craft. We probable PROBABLY will see France but don't you folks worry. No Dutch GERMAN S-of-a-B can get me anyway. This Anti Air Craft is the safest thing & best branch there is. Anyway that is what they think out here.

I wrote you folks yesterday & I sent that watch a long time ago but you probable had not got it when you wrote last.

What seems to be wrong with Ernie? To bad he wasn't able to come when I left as he could have got First Class Driver here, where I am only an assistant. But I will make First Class when I get a chance at driving.

We are through with pistol practice, but I don't carry one any way so I don't care if I didn't make a good score.

Now Mama Don't think I transferred. The whole or most of the Company is here & it is still the 10th Co. & when we come back from Where ever we go we will be Coast Art. again. All we do is guard against Air aplanes & arreals. AIRPLANES AND BALLOONS I don't think we will be close to fire at all.

Well Mama, news is scarce so I will close. Well write soon

Your son
With Love to all
