Letter dated November 16, 1917
Ft Winfield Scott
Nov. 16 1917
Dear Folks,

Your most welcome letter was received today & I sure was tickled to get it. I also got a card saying the package was at headquarters but it was closed before I could get it. But will get it tomorrow. I can't hardly wait until I get at it.

Well how is every one? This leaves me feeling fine & hope it finds you the same.

That was an awfully nice letter Pearl SISTER wrote. Did you read it? I am sending it with this in case.

We had an awfully strict inspection today. Had to pitch tents & also had an inspection of camp too.

I think will will be in the east before another week but of course we don't know exactly when will will go. But are all ready now.

I am having Glenn Wellington send my dressing set home as I could not take it with me. We are only allowed seventy pounds in our barracks bags & I have more than that in clothes.

I suppose every one is picking corn to beat the band. I hope next year I'll be there to help harvest the grain.

What did Dad make this year at thrashing? He needed a good water flunkey like he had a couple of years ago. Ha, Ha. But we sure did beat out the old grain.

I sure think you folks had ought to go to Ind. It would do you good & you could spend the winter eating peaching. We have plenty of fruit out here, but it doesn't have the flavor the fruit has back there.

I am glad Ernie BROTHER likes his watch. They are the handiest thing when you are walking post at night, You need no match or don't have to dig in your pocket either. Nearly every one has on in the company. Looks like a bunch of Sissie Ha, Ha. But we have not squatted to -----. Ha, Ha Yet.

There is to be a free movie here at the YMCA tonite & also a musical trio.

I wish you were here as they sure have some interesting photo plays.

Well Mama, news is scarce so will close for this time. Probable PROBABLY when you get my next letter I will be east of you. Well I must close. Will write tomorrow. Well Bye Bye

Your son
With Love to all
Kinley
