Feb 2nd 1918

Dear Folks:

I received your letter of the Dec 25 yesterday & also one you wrote the Dec 5th. I sure was glad to get them too. A letter over here sure does mean a lot.

I was sure glad to hear that you folks were in Ind. I hope you had a good time. Of course you did.

I got a letter from Sid Brother too & also the Coleridge Blade. Local Weekly Newspaper One thing that is scarce here is reading material. Send all the monthly magazines as I sure did the Comfort that you sent.

What are you folks doing back there now? I suppose everyone is planning on what they will do in the Spring.

We sure have been having fine weather here. Have not seen any snow since a couple of days after we landed & it does not get very cold here either.

What did Mike Brother make on his cattle & hogs. Sure did me good to hear of him having them to sell.

I have not received the helmet yet but expect it some time soon.

We stood muster day before yesterday & signed the pay roll the day before that so you see I will be getting some Francs soon. My pay is the same as in the Coast Art. Only I draw 20 percent on $15 for Foreign Service Pay which makes me draw $33. Out of that I have $5 Liberty bonds, $6.40 for insurance & $5 allotment & now I get $16.60. Which is too much for me over here. I would like to make another allotment as a fellow can't get anything here that really does him any good.

Have you received any my letters yet? I write about twice a week, I don't write to any of the kids but I mean this for them too. I have not gotten that package you & Dad sent. I suppose it has been lost somewhere. Whenever you send anything be sure to have it insured.

You had ought to see the boys trying to smoke this French tobacco & cigarettes. They nearly knock a man down. But I have a few packages left you sent but it is getting scarce. We are not suppose to solicit anything from home, but you send anything you think I'll need & it won't come amiss here.

Well I have written about all I am supposed to, but there is a lot I would like to write.

Well here is hoping this finds you all well. I am feeling like a young colt.

Well take care of yourselves & I'll try to do the same & write often.

Your son with love
Kinley
