France Mar. 12, 1918 Dear Folks:
Your letters & package were received today & maybe you don't think I didn't give them a warm welcome. It was the first I had heard from you in over a month. Say but it did me good to look at the pictures. You folks sure do look good to me.   I also heard from Inez, Earl's & Joe's   We are having a fine time & plenty to eat & a good place to sleep. I would like to tell you more about what we are doing but it is against the rules.   But we are enjoying ourselves as there is a dandy Y. M. C. A. here & sure has plenty of amusements. A good moving picture show every night except Friday & that night we have special entertainers. Miss Elsie Janis   We also have great times trying to learn French. I can speak a little already & still hoping to learn more.   I received the socks & the package you sent Christmas which contained the pipe, razor & tobacco & wristlets & now I am waiting for the sweater & other socks. Anything you send will sure come in handy & will be well appreciated. You folks certainly did get some nice Xmas presents. & to think I could only send 2 cheap handkerchiefs. But next year maybe I can give a little more.   Mother I want you to use that money for anything you like as I have plenty to run me over here. I got 94 Francs, which is $16.60 & that is a great plenty.   Well I have written about all I can, so will close.
With love to all
Candy & tobacco appreciated.
