Dar Dad & Mother:

      Your letter of May 13th was received today & with a big warm welcome too. They all get that. It seems like if they come every day, it isn't enough.

      Well how are you both by now? I sure hope your both well. This leaves me feeling fine & dandy, enjoying three good squares a day & plenty of other pleasure too.

      Say, but I sure was glad to get Ernest's address, as I have been wanting to write & now I can do so, & yet tonite. You bet. He was a good old kid & no one knows it any better that I do. And you will see an awful change in both of us when we get back. But it will be for the best, and I am just as glad he is in the army as anyone because no one could call him a slacker. Do you know what he does? I was hoping he would get to be a truck driver, as it would just suit him.

      Oh yes, there sure was a lot of birthday days last month, and especially the one on the 25th. I think of you all day & wished you ever thing good that one could. You didn't know that was one on the 23rd also (Babe's). She said in her last letter that she was going to see you this summer, so maybe you can talk her into staying until I get back. Ha, Ha.

      I heard from Arlee's again again today. Believe me that old kid sure writes a good letter too.

      Oh yes, I just heard that I made 1st class gunner. So you see I will get $3 more & I can make another allotment. I will do so as there isn't much to spend it for over here.
