France
July 5th, 1918

Dear Dad & Mother

Well another day off, so will try & ans your two letters of May 21st & 27th. They were late in getting here, but all the same they got a warm welcome.

How are both of you by this time? I hope you are still as well as when I left. This leaves me feeling fine & dandy.

Where did you celebrate yesterday? I certainly would like to of been there, but next year I'll be there with bells on. I can easily remember where I was two years ago. Ha Ha. And I am planning on still better times when I get back.

Have you heard from Ernie Brother lately? I sure would like to hear from him & hope he gets out of the hospital alright.

Say but those big men of Coleridge must be wanting more trade. I can't say all I would like to about them, but the will all hear from me when I get back. And I am sure proud of what my old Mother told them. You know why they stick by us; Yes & also until a certain place froze up. Well I don't believe any of us want to go skating down there yet. But let them go there first.

Us kids over here know who our true backers are & we won't forget them soon either. & nor will we forget this one trick those Sympathizers either.

Well I have written more than I should about those slackers, so will try & write something more interesting. We are having the loveliest weather & the crops look great. Rye is ripe now & the wheat will also be ready to cut next week, so you see this isn't a bad country either. I have gotten to like France better all the time.

Say Mother, are you going to have a visitor this summer? The last letter Babe His girlfriend back home wrote she said she was going to go & see you sometime this summer so keep a lookout. & also keep her there if she can stay.

I sure was sorry to hear of the cyclone. It seems like if it isn't one thing it is another. But at that, that is the best place to live.

When you write next time tell me all about the Jurgens deal.

Oh yes, I also got the picture. The old boy sure looks natural, but I don't suppose he will know me when I get back. How about DollHis Farm Horse? I suppose she is about to retire.

Well I guess I have written nearly all I can think of so will close for this time. So take good care of yourselves and may God bless you & keep you both.

Your Son
With Love
Kinley
