Dear Folks;

      I just received your most welcome letter of July 1st & sure was glad to get it. This leaves me feeling fine & dandy & hope it finds you all well.

      The way your letter read, Ernie Brother must be home. Is he? Did he get discharged or just home for a furlough? Poor kid. He is sure having tough luck. But the Army is no place for him if he isn't well.

      I also was glad to get the other letter, but have not located the home place yet but will keep a sharp lookout & maybe I will see some of the family yet.

      Mother, I sure would like to of been with you folks at the river, as I have not seen a fish since I left the Big Waters. But when I get back we will make that car do some running.

      I got a good letter from Charlie Duncan, but as yet have not answered it as I have been awfully busy lately.

      So all the kids have cars now. I suppose Dad will have to build a garage at home now. Ha Ha. But just the same I glad they got them, and maybe I'll be able to get one when I get home.

      You spoke of not having any white bread. Well it has been a long time since I have seen any white bread, but I have gotten used to this kind & like it fine. But we fare great as there all ways are Y. M. C. A. & French Canteens where one can buy Jam & cookies & other canned goods & wine if one likes it, but I can't get used to it.

      I suppose the papers are full of war news but I guess the have are to be as we, I mean the Allies are sure giving the Huns Germans H---. The only trouble is that we have got them going so fast we can't hardly catch up with them. & I think old Fritz will be wanting to hang out a white flag soon, and I don't think it will be very long either.

      Mother, when you write tell me how Ernie is & for him to write me. I wrote him once but didn't get any answer. Well tell all the kids to write & I will ans if there is any possible chance.

      I guess I had better bring this to a close for this time.

Your Son
With Love to All
