France Nov 1st 1918 Dear Folks;
  Just a line or two today to let you know I am still well & enjoying myself as much as could be expected.   Just finished breakfast, of which consisted of most hot cakes & all we could eat at that.   I am on outpost detail with Frank Oconnor & a Corporal by the name of Wagoner, and being quite a ways away from the battery we do our own cooking & we sure do have plenty of good eats. Yesterday Frank did the cooking & he surprised us with a good pie for supper. And today, it being my turn to do the cooking, I don't suppose we will fare quite so well, but nevertheless I don't think we will starve. And tomorrow Corporal Wagoner will rassle the pots. Ha Ha, You had ought to be here & get a real feed.   I suppose the papers are full of news about Austria quitting. It sure sounded good to us. But if they had not of quit we would have made them, so I guess they were wise for once. I'll tell you the Yanks are the ones it takes to make them come to time and I certainly am proud to be one called a Yank.   Tell Joe   Have you heard from Chas Duncan lately? It has been nearly 3 months since I heard from him, but expect a letter any time now. And it has been nearly two months since I heard from you, so you see my mail hasn't been very regular of late. But Frank got a letter from his Mother & she said that you had received a letter the day before which would be September 21st, and by that I know you are getting my letters.   That CANG. Means Coast Artillery National Guard.   There isn't much doing today as it is so clouded & foggy but maybe it will clear up this afternoon so we can shoot them a few.   Well I guess I have said my little say, so will close now & prepare dinner.
With Lots of Love
Pvt. Kinley J. Cisney
