France Nov. 14, 1918 Dear Folks;
  Just a few lines to let you know I am still feeling fine & dandy, and tell you I received your last 6 letters the other day. The oldest one was date July 22nd to Oct 8th, so you see my mail was held up somewhere on the road.   I suppose everyone in the states are rejoicing and celebrating Germany's defeat.   It seems queer here not to hear the roar and whistling of the shells. We are located in a little town now & I have a real mattress to sleep on, the first I have even seen for some months. Last summer we did have some real beds, but things sure have been different since we got to chasing the square heads.   Say but I sure was a tickled kid to get all those pictures. You all sure look good to me and I won't really be satisfied until I am there with you. Maybe so we will be able to spend the Fourth together. But remember there is to be a day set aside for our reunion, and that is the day we will have a real celebration.   Mother, I don't know the reason for stamps being put on my letter. I never do it myself.   I am still with Charlie   Oh yes, I received a dandy letter from Cousin Pearl. You know she always writes good letters and real messy ones too.   I also heard from Mike   I haven't heard from Charlie D. for a long time, I guess he is having to good of a time & his trip to write. But I am still looking for a letter anyway.   I don't know why Babe   Have you received the Xmas present I sent you? If not, do not worry about it as I have everything I need. And you can keep my things that are ready for me there and give them to me personal.   I guess I have written all the news so will close for now with Best Wishes and Love.
Your Son
