Dear Cousin.

      Glad to know I have one cousin brave enough to face the dangers of war to enlist. Mother came up today and had your letter and picture to show us and wanted me to write. So glad to get them and Mother is so proud of it. Did her so much good to think of your writing to her.

      I am married. Got a fine boy five years old and 2 children dead.

      I will remember you and Earnie when you were out here.

      Do you think the war will end seriously? I hope not. Am so afraid my old man will have to go. Don't know what I would do to get along.

      I have an Uncle S. S. Yoho that lives in San Francisco. It is on 30th (thirty) avenue. But I forget the number.

      I would sure love to see that city. Know you are seeing some great sights too.

      As I am writing that song the Victrola plays comes to my mind. T'is Great to be a Soldier Man.
